Today at Bello Gardens I hosted a Valentines Day cookie decorating party! I invited our Activity Leader Liat Holden, and my friend Meadow to help out. Last night, I baked around 40 cookies at home for the guests. I also ordered some cute Valentines Day themed owl crafts that the guests had fun with! I had the guests who cannot eat cookies (like Charlie) in mind when bringing other crafts so that they can participate in the fun too.
We decorated hearts shaped cookies while listening to upbeat music, and all the residents had a great time. There were three new residents at Bello Gardens, and I think that this was a great way to welcome them to their new home. One of the new residents, Cathy (left image) chatted with my volunteers and the other guests while decorating her cookie.
I helped Liat collect all of their Valentines owls that they decorated, so that she can put them on display at the art showcase (for the residents) that we are doing at the end of the month!
Overall, we all had a great time and the care-takers thanked me endlessly and profusely. Hosting a cookie decorating party for all the residents + volunteers is a lot of work, but I always feel rewarded when I see the smiles on their faces!
